The very last thing that I wrote before class today was a text to my mom asking if she had shipped my amazon package. My purpose was to ensure that she had shipped the package as I really need the items inside. I could have received my answer by calling her, but I wasn't sure if she was in a meeting or not. I chose to write simply out of convenience for both of us.

The last thing I wrote before coming to class was a postcard to my friend who goes to UCLA. It was his birthday yesterday and I didn't have the time to write it beforehand and send it out on time. My purpose of sending a postcard was not only to celebrate him on his special day, but because it's more meaningful than sending just a text. I chose to write it and send it as a postcard because my main love language is gift giving and I also have pen pals that I write to, so this wasn't too out of the ordinary for me.

I annotated my forensic science book. I wrote, "Important". My audience was myself for later. My purpose is to better retain the things I read by annotating my text; I don't know if I achieved my purpose, but we will see if I pass the class or not. I don't think I could read as well without annotating it helps me remember crucial material and not drift away while reading. I chose to write because I had cute post-its!

The last thing I wrote was a personal journal entry on my phone. I wrote just about my day, how I was feeling and random thoughts. The purpose of writing that was just to get all my thoughts out and connect to myself as I felt disconnected and stressed and I probably could have done something without writing to achieve this but writing it down is just funner, I didn't have to move from where I was , it was silent etc and it just made me feel better.

I wrote a message to a group chat I'm in asking for directions to an area on campus. My audience were the group chat members. The purpose was to make sure I had the right directions to a place I had to go on campus. I achieved my purpose because the members of the group chat told me the directions, which matched up with the information I had. I could have achieved this purpose without writing by asking a fellow group chat member in person instead. I opted to write my question instead of asking in person because it was more convenient ask in a chatroom rather than to try and find a member in person in this large campus.

Calendar-ing

The last thing I wrote while waiting in the hallway outside our classroom this morning was a long note inside a calendar invitation with the meeting agenda, links to the documents we will need during the meeting, and a note about how to find the meeting room within the maze of the Death Star.

The audience is me--I'm literally the only person who can see that detailed note inside the shared calendar invitation.

I had to write it THERE so that it doesn't get lost as a scrape of paper--and so that it is there when I need it next week.

I used to create voice memos for this kind of thing and that never worked. I couldn't access those easily during the actual meeting!

The very last thing I wrote before coming to class today was a text message to my roommate informing him that I should've had breakfast this morning. As I began to make the journey to class today, the starvation feeling started to settle in and I know it would be quite some time before I could get food. My purpose was to let my roommate know not to partake in the same mistakes I made this morning. I know it is effective information because he planned on choosing not to eat breakfast as well however I told him it was for the best. I chose to write it so that he could go to class without the same empty feeling I have.

The last thing I wrote before coming to class was most likely chemistry notes. The chemistry notes I wrote about were based on ions, molecules, suffixes, prefixes, and compounds. My audience was myself, since it was for my own purpose. I did achieve my purpose of putting the notes into my own words for my understanding. Since I could better retain the information because they were in my own words I knew I had been able to fulfill the purpose. I could possibly achieved this goal of gaining knowledge without writing but I learn better mostly because of writing. I chose to write and work on my notes instead of resting so I could help myself and be prepared for lectures and homework. As well as to keep my brain running and so I don't have to learn things last minute, rather I am already familiar with the content.

The last thing I wrote was a practice problem from my chemistry class. The audience was myself since I wanted to better understand this question. I did achieve my purpose because then I am able to familiarize myself in which the way the question is written and the steps attached to how to solve the question. Most likely I could've not achieved this purpose. I chose to write this because I like to torture myself with chemistry. I'm joking I just want to get better at chemistry.

I wrote down notes for my Chemistry class.

My notes were about what atoms are, and how to convert units.

These notes are organized, written, and designed for myself so that I can go back to them whenever I want to for exams or to just study.

My purpose was to grasp the concepts of Dr. Ling's lecture, so that I understand all of the material easily. I think that the way I organize my notes really helps me out.

I could only write these, and didn't have time to write anything else because I don't have much time for my passing period between Chemistry and this class.

The very last thing I wrote before coming to class today was texting my girlfriend. I asked her if she would like a pastry to eat as she was in class and had not eaten breakfast yet. She responded and I brought her something. The audience was my girlfriend. My purpose was to ask her if she wanted something to eat. I achieved my purpose because she texted me back saying yes. I could have achieved this purpose without writing if I had instead chose to call her on the phone. I chose to write (text) because I knew she was in class and it was the least disruptive method of communication at the time.

The very last thing I wrote before coming to class was a text to my mom. She had texted me to let me know my grandparents were visiting and had asked me if I needed anything from Mexico. I responded that I didn't need anything expect for my perfume that I had forgotten from the last time I visited them. My audience was my mom and my purpose was to let her know if I needed anything. I am not sure if I have achieved my purpose because she hasn't answered me yet. I don't think I could have achieved my purpose without writing and I also chose to write because I wouldn't have been able to call her since she was going to work.

The last thing I wrote were my lecture notes yesterday. I was paraphrasing what my professor was saying into my own words and writing them into my notes. I was writing them for myself so I could look back at them later. My purpose of writing notes is so that I have resources I can study/look back at later or whenever I need. I was able to look back at notes when I was completing an assignment so I would say that I did achieve my purpose for this. I could maybe have achieved this purpose without writing, by just looking back at the slides, but they would have not been as beneficial as writing down notes. I chose to write notes because it helps me retain the information that I am learning rather than just listening to the professor speak without actively listening to what they are saying.

The very last thing I wrote was a response to my friend having sent selfies of us . I thought it was funny how they did the same face multiple times throughout the photos so I pointed that out. The purpose of my message was to tease my friend a bit and make a lighthearted joke. I did achieve this purpose as they used a laughing emoji after I sent my text. If i couldn't write this I would not be able to communicate daily with my friends as we do not have classes together. I chose to write this because I text my friends to feel connected with them.

The last thing I wrote was an email to my professor because I was in a discussion but the TA seemed to be running late. My goal was to fins out if the TA was coming so we could stay and wait for them. In the end I got an email from my professor stating the TA would not be coming and that we were free to go. Unfortunately that email came 10 minutes before the discussion time was over but I am grateful he was able to get back to me in general. My purpose of the email was reached as I did get the information I was seeking.

The most recent thing I wrote before coming to class today was a response back to my friend. She was asking if I was free on the weekend to eat at a crepe place called crepeville. I wrote I wasn't free on the weekends and hopefully we could eat there the following weekend. The text was a direct message so it was only the two of us. The purpose of my message was to inform my friend I was not free during the time she invited me, however I added that we could go at a later time. I could have achieved this purpose without writing, video calling her instead. I chose to write instead of call or meet up since it was 7 in the morning and I didn't want to wake up my roommates and it just seemed like the best way to convey my message.

I haven't actually wrote any piece of writing so far in my classes, it mostly has just been readings. The only writing I have done before class today is writing down my week in my planner. Writing down my tasks and it's just easier for me to see what I have to do visually. This writing was solely for myself and no one else. My purpose was to set goals for myself and be productive in completing my assignments. I couldn't have set this purpose without writing because I enjoy to manually write down things I have to do.

The last thing I wrote was texting my friends when they wanted to eat breakfast. The purpose was to plan out a time that worked for both of us so that we don't eat alone. We did decide to eat at 9:20. I think it could have been possible to plan this without writing since we live near each other and we could have met up physically and just went, but popping in without a warning and not knowing if they are there would be harder to plan. We chose to write because it was the most convent.

The last thing I wrote was a text to my mom, I was telling her good morning and what classes I had today. which would make my mom the audience. My purpose in telling her this was because I'm very far from her now that I'm in college so I like letting her know what classes I have today. I think I achieved my purpose because she was happy hearing from me. I probably could of called her but I know she was heading to work and so I chose to text her because I didn't know if she was driving or maybe busy with something else.

The last thing I wrote before I came to class was a to-do list of all my assignments and plans for the next two weeks. In my planner, I wrote down all the assignment due dates for any new assignments that were posted last night, as well as the due dates for upcoming assingments next week, making the audience myself. Even though Canvas includes a calendar with all of your due dates, I find it more helpful to write them down in a planner, along with all my other plans/errands/responsibilities for the week. This helps me get a real sense of what each day of the week will be looking like, in terms of workload. My purpose with writing my to-do list was to organize my week and ensure I give myself enough time to complete all of my assignments.

Before entering class today, I had just finished writing notes for my chemistry class. Today in my chemistry class I learned about atoms and substances, so I had to takes notes on this new lesson. The audience was myself, because the notes that I was writing were for me to look back at on my own time. The purpose of writing these notes was to just have an overview of what I had learned today in my chemistry class, and I had gladly achieved this purpose because I took notes on all questions and examples given by my professor. I probably could have achieved this purpose without writing but since I learn better by me physically engaging in the lecture it helps me understand the material better.

The last thing I wrote before class was a chat with a friend. I wrote some questions about his college life to him. He was my best friend in high school, and the reason I wrote these questions to him was that I wanted to learn more about his life because we hadn't seen each other for a while. He also replied to me with some questions and talked to me about some interesting things happening around him. If I don't write, I can't have a chat with him. I choose to write to chat with him because writing doesn't require him to reply to me immediately. Therefore, if he has something to do, I won't disturb him.
