Cleaning toys physically removes germs by using soap (or perhaps detergent) and water to wash away surface dirt and grime. Disinfecting kills most germs on objects like baby toys, or stops germs from reproducing. If the toy is dishwasher safe, the dishwasher is a safe and reliable source to clean toys. If not dishwasher safe, diluted bleach, soap and water work well to clean and disinfect. Stuffed toys made of fabric can usually be put in the clothing washer. Check the toy's label.
