<title>Sam and Eric, and the other small children, greatly fear this unknown beast that has only been seen by others. The reader knows that the dead body isn&#39;t able to hurt the boys in any way, but the boys on the island do not have the intelligence to know what the creature is and creates an unneeded fear of a beast. </title>

<title>Simon’s thought is ignored only moments after he says this, but this comment plants a seed in the back of every mind of who or what the beast takes shape of. His observation happens after Jack and his group of hunters kill their first pig and let the fire burn out on top of the mountain, simple crimes that start the decline of civility. Simon’s statement is foreshadowing that the boys are the beast they are making up and scaring themselves with. No one believes Simon, which leads to them becoming animals and savages without a second thought.</title>

<title>The boys steady decline into animals they fear is foreshadowed by the constant destruction of the island. Every destructive action is completed by the group, making them all responsible for the deterioration of their civilization and their society as a whole. The start of the destruction is shown through their arrival to the island by plane crash. </title>

It was crying out against the abominable about a body on a hill… at once the crowd surged after it, poured down the rock, leapt onto the beast, scream, struck, bit, tore. There were no words and no movements but the tearing of teeth and claws”(Golding 152,153). </title>

<title>This act of terror strips the boys of the little humanity they had left in them, and it truly turns them into barbarians. Golfing describes the boys having “teeth” and “claws”, more animal and beast-like traits than human ones. The boys have become the beast they have described and feared, confirming the loss of pureness and innocence with this violent act.</title>

The beast, first introduced in the assembly, greatly scares the boys into the point where they believed a dead corpse is the beast&#39;s physical form. However, when the boys murder Simon and lead a manhunt against their leader, they officially become beasts themselves. </title>
