The muted tones of purple and blue evoke a feeling of peace, tranquility, and introspection; it's reminiscent to clear blue skies or a peaceful landscape. However, the grey undertones of the blue and purple can also be associated with loneliness and coldness, as it can feel isolating and remind viewers of cold subjects, like winter weather or large masses of water. - Kelsy Young

https://library-artstor-org.libproxy.utahtech.edu/#/asset/AROTHKO_10310193004
I really enjoy this oil painting by Rothko because it brings memories back from my childhood. It looks like one of the meal "Rehydrator" packets from spy kids. When the character puts it in the microwave and McDonalds came out it was what I imagined the future to be like. Now when I see these colors stacked in an uneven way I think of that movie and it makes me happy.
-Cheyenne Romero

I feel as though it is to represent a passionate and deeply in love couple that could have a pure relationship with the inclusion of the white, but ultimately have that "fiery" attitude and passion for each other. I think this is more of a narrative than a feeling, but if I were to pick it would be a warm love.
-Merika

This piece makes me feel content, as in I am happy but calm. The light indigo/purple is what I think creates that calmness and is separated from the yellow with white, which is a peaceful color. The happiness then comes from the dark yellow and orange, which are more energetic colors and generally associated with happiness. -Miranda Todd

This painting gives the feeling of a sunset when the sky projects a mix of warm colors. It makes me feel happy and energetic because of the bright tones, especially the yellow in the background. The peach color makes me think of cotton candy because of its fluffy texture. It also reminds me of my favorite strawberry and peach smoothie, which is super delicious and refreshing. When I look at this painting, I think of sweet things and tropical fruits.
-Andrea Martinez

This painting gives me a somber yet still peaceful kind of feeling.
-Cody Cook

When I viewed this piece I felt 2 very opposite emotions roll over me simultaneously. Feelings of uneasiness and fear were drawn up upon viewing the many shapes and lines scattered throughout the piece with some of the lines creating alien/monster-like shapes in my eyes. But there is also a calm beauty to this piece in the color scheme and the light spots of the painting which seem as if they are coming from a world behind the colors and convoluted lines in the front of the painting. This painting is so intriguing to me I just cannot stop staring at it it is so very interesting. Just when you think you have soaked in every detail, you realize that there is a line a shape, or a color that you have missed.

It feels as though this emptiness is trapping me, but in a way that’s also shielding me from the fiery chaos outside of this red boundary. An intoxicating isolation.
Hailey Boyce

It gives me the image of a mother stuck in the home raising a family, same thing every day. No chance for excitement or a splash of color.
