The insects have adapted to extend the root systems and enrich hard soil. The prey have adapted to be quick because there is no places to hide in the plain fields. Another adaptation is that herds of animals migrate to other parts of grassland to find new plants.

One of the main environmental conditions in grasslands are fires. They burn off a lot of the grass and afterwards there is no food for the grazing animals. Another problem is overgrazing. This is a problem because of all the animals that eat too much grass. The main reason this happens is overpopulation. When animals overgraze, other species die because there is no more food to eat.
