"music recordings are a ubiquitous fact of contemporary social life"-Turino
I can't imagine a life where I can't put my headphones in to tune out the noise of the outside world, it's not a day that goes by that i'm not listening to music.
Music moves people in ways that nothing else can in terms of different sounds, beats, rhythms, and harmony which leads to different emotional journeys. I have music that I'll listen to when I'm trying to relax, get a boost of energy, or have a fun time. Music can easily set the mood for anything I'm looking to do. I always like to play music, I can play the saxophone a bit although I'm not perfect at it. I can remember in elementary me and my friends would beat on the tables with our knuckles or pencils to make beats ad melodies. I can personally say music has always been a vital part of my enjoyment since an early age. As I've grown older I can appreciate it more and be open to all genres of music, because they all have something special to offer. "Musical sounds are a powerful human resource, often at the heart of our most profound social occasions and experiences." -Turino
Being an African American, I can say music has always been a very important thing to our culture. Dating back to slavery days, they would use music while working, in order to ease the reality of the conditions they had to endure. If you go to a lot of black churches today, the energy is still evident when they perform songs. Even when fighting for equal rights, music has always been apart of the struggle with songs like "a change gonna come" by sam cooke and "strange fruit" by Nina simone.

He's one my favorite hip-hop artist he tells a lot of stories in his music. In this particular song he's talking about how music changed his life and gave him opportunities he wouldn't have had otherwise. "nothing in this world can compare to the music."

When most people see Bob Marley, they just think of some guy who smoked weed. He was much more than that. He was advocate for peace and happiness, a political activist, and one the greatest musical artist in history. My dad always played his music when I was growing up, he was truly inspirational.

Besides Ugk, this is my favorite rap group of all time. They paint a lot of pictures with their music. Especially being a southerner, they embody what southern hip-hop is, because every region has it own form of hip-hop.
