Charles revived his college education at Oratorian Collège de Juilly, but he later received a law degree in 1708 at the University of Bordeaux. He then went to Paris to further his studies. In 1715 Charles married Jeanne de Lartigue and had three children. Montesquieu was a judge for most of his life. He died of a fever on February 10,1755 in Paris France.

Montesquieu believed that the English system was superior to the other systems. He believed that the government should maintain law and order, political liberty and individual property. Charles accidentally  misinterpreted how England's political system actually worked when he published Spirit  of the Law. Montesquieu thought he saw a balance of powers, when he was focused on the parliament. Spirits of the law was written to help people understand Human Laws and social interactions.
