From Year 2 to Year 6 we have class elected school councillors, 34 in total, who are also our ECO ambassadors. 

We work closely with external businesses (small local to big international companies), charities and community to enhance our curriculum for our pupils. All our visitors presentations links to at least 1 of the 17 sustainable goals. In addition, climate change is also part of our curriculum.

Working in a small rural Primary School I have learnt that for this age group we focus on tackling litter, recycling, re-use, reduce plastic use through a reusable water bottle and less in the kitchen or not at all, looking after nature - planting trees, wildflowers, a nature garden and growing vegetables for our school kitchen and saving electricity. Children become interested in helping animals and keep the school grounds clean of litter. All of this means they carry on at home - encourage Mum's to buy vegetables loose at the supermarket. Taking part in campaigns such as Switch Off Fortnight, What's Under Our Feet, Great Big Green Week etc focusses children's efforts more. Mucheke High School is the oldest among those built in the high density Suburbs of Masvingo and most of the kids are from the lower class families who depend on vending and garden and farm produce street markets. However the children do understand the importance of education as tool for stepping up into a new economic class. The school has total population of about 1500 learners attending a hot sitting system, and this means half of the school attending in the morning (0645-1200) hrs and the other half attending in the afternoon (1200-1700) hrs.
