Doodle was finally learning how to walk because of his brother taking him to the Old Woman Swamp and teaching him. The story begins describing the quiet setting and the narrator introducing his crazy brother doodle, and we learned a bit of his illness and how everyone assumed that he was going to die.After Doodle didn't die they gave him an official name of William Armstrong. The older brother was  contemplating whether  he wanted to kill his brother or not.When he was trying to move around the doctor said moving around can kill him. Scarlet Ibis was found dead in the garden, Doodle had discovered and burried it, Then Aunt Nicey gave her opinion and said that dead birds are bad luck, especially red ones. After they finished eating, him and his brother Doodle headed off to the Horsehead landing. After, they were doing their training. During the training, a storm was heading their way. He brought doodle into the swamp and shared a moment together,and then the narrator felt that he should bring Doodle to the barn and show him the coffin. Doodle then was forced to touch the coffin,and then when the narrator felt ashamed of Doodle he took him to the swamp and taught him how to walk.
