Artist Statement:
In 2020 over 6000 pedestrians died in traffic accidents across the nation. The issue of crosswalk safety is a problem that echoes around the world. Current solutions, such as beacons or traffic signals, are very expensive to implement. The experimental film documents a solution to combat this issue: an affordable, smart traffic sign; that alerts motorists when a pedestrian is in the crosswalk. I implemented two signs at Ardenwood Elementary school. I plan to spread this initiative to across the world. My goal is to live in a world where no lives are lost to the perils of traffic safety.

Artist Statement:
This stop motion animation (made with dry-erase markers and lots of erasing) reveals that lush carpets of grass may look beautiful, but the truth is not. Lawns require lots of and frequent watering, which doesn’t work well with the environment and causes tons of runoff. They also don’t help with cultivating a biologically diverse ecosystem. We can change the world by choosing to be water-wise and replace lawns with native, drought-tolerant plants that conserve water and make beautiful and colorful yards. Let’s be natively beautiful.

 On Luciana's first day of school, her history teacher gives her an assignment... one that didn't quite make sense to her. The assignment was "How can you change the world?". As she and her friend were walking home that day they realized something...  they realized that no matter how young you are you can change the world with just one act of kindness.

This short film is about a 10 year old girl who has the urge to help the people who lost their homes due to wild fire. She then decides to start a donation drive. With some help and determination, she was able to collect and donate more than she expected to the villages local disaster relief agency.  Tessa will change the world by helping people in need by doing what she can.

I will change the world by reusing materials and making music for our community. I painted and decorated old and used tin cans, then
strung beads to strings and tied to an old hanger. After I created this wind chimes, I played with the cans; therefore created music.

My animation is about 1 person helping a crab that is stuck in trash. The crab at the end builds a new home and moves in.  My animation relates to the theme because you should help animals and pick up trash. I will change the world by doing my part to help the beaches in my community.
