• The workshop needs ample storage, lighting, ventilation, power, space, and noise reduction to ensure the students have everything they need without affecting others

• Lumber storage areas must be completely dry with good ventilation, and no sunlight. Lumber must be stored flat and straight, not on the ground or leaned against a wall, as humidity and airflow must be the same on both sides of the board.

• Work benches must have enough room for long, wide boards. Tool storage also needed to be considered, as well as room for a stationary machine area, and a finishing area.

• Dust collection systems work best when placed directly at or next to the woodworking machine.
