If students are to gain a complete working knowledge new of content, they must be able to make connections to what they have already been taught. Reviewing concepts consists of the teacher briefly revisiting information that was taught earlier in the course.

In a cloze activity, the students recall content by filling missing information that the teacher has left out. The Cloze Procedure features a passage from text that contains blanks where words are deliberately omitted. It is designed to measure a student's comprehension, but may also be used to activate prior knowledge about a topic (W.V. Ed 2016).

Teachers can create interactive online cloze activities that include pictures and characters using web-based like Study Ladder, ESLonline, or StudyIT. Have students submit responses to complete the cloze using clickers, if available, or with plickers online polling software.

Reviewing can be done by asking the students discuss what information they can recall or they found important using summaries prepared by the teacher, or the students.

Technology can enhance summaries by providing multiple ways for students to record and organize information. Audio recording programs like Audacity or speech-to-text apps such as Dragon Dictation can be used to record summaries. An online timeline Can be used to organize new and previously learned knowledge. Students could also keep a video diary of summaries to synthesize new and recalled concepts.

In a demonstration, the teacher reviews with students by having them complete a task that requires previously acquired knowledge or a previously learned procedure to finish.

Students can make a video where they have to demonstrate a previously taught concept. They work in groups were everyone makes a contribution. The groups may put on a newscast, a sit-com, a movie, or a crime drama. They may also take screen shots of relevant information to give a narrated tutorial. Another idea to incorporate technology would be to use a presentation program like Power Point, Padlet, ot Prezi to make an engaging exhibition of review materials.

The teacher asks specific questions that cause students to remember, identify, or apply content from earlier lessons.

This would be another good use of clickers or Plickers so students can answer anonymously. Quizlet, StudyBlue, or cram.com are online flashcard and quizzing sites that would be a good utiization of technology. The teacher can plug in specific questions for students to answer and the program gives instant feedback on what the students have retained.

Games are fun and engaging. Students try hard to recall and apply previously learned material when there is competition involved. Any game where students are engaged and thinking can be used.

Games like four corners get kids up and moving witch breaks the monotony of sitting in a chair. Around the World is great for reviewing math facts before introducing a new concept. Technology can be used with an interactive whiteboard playing spinner games like BONK.
