An update was sent to your administrator and you. Here is the message:

This message is being sent to you on behalf of Marisol Rexach and Diana Torres

Good evening,
I hope this email finds you well. As you are aware, in the last couple of years we have been able to utilize funds to augment the infrastructure for support within SAUSD.
Not only have we been able to add additional teachers to the Teaching and Learning team (CLAS Teachers), but we have also been able to enhance the infrastructure at the school level.
Much of this work is articulated in the Academic Support Plan. Below you will find a snippet from the plan, I think you’ll find that it helps to frame the work for this year.
Academic Support Plan
Design, develop, and deliver a Site-Based Coordinated Academic Support Team (CAST) to help support school sites with implementation of personalized, learner-centered, targeted and intensive strategies to improve the learning and achievement of students and help schools become future ready by designing and modeling sound pedagogical practices designed to strengthen teacher instructional capacity. The team will design, develop, and deliver a continuum of academic support. These academic supports will focus on prevention, interventions, instructional staff and leadership capacity building, innovation, personalized learning and prioritization on deeper learning.

Site-based Coordinated Academic Support Team (CAST)
The CAST team is made up of a few different folks, but there is one position in particular that plays a crucial role in supporting your work of implementing PLT’s and Collaboration. Below you will find a description of the Future Ready Coach position.
Future Ready Coaches:
(Please note: We understand that some sites do not have a FR Coach assigned. Our team is prepared to offer alternative forms of support. Please reach out to Marisol/Diana)
The design of our site support structure includes the role of a site-based Future-Ready Coach. This role is pivotal in supporting your efforts in reaching the goals and outcomes set by you and your school community. To this end, the Teaching and Learning department will engage this team in ongoing capacity building opportunities to ensure they are prepared to support teachers and promote best practices.
This group will make certain all site activities align with your site’s goals. To this end, they will:

Facilite Professional Learning Teams

Collaborate with Site Administration to ensure Itinerant Support Teacher site assignments and a collaboration space are secured for any upcoming PLT work.

What is the role of the Itinerant Support Teacher team?
Itinerant Support Teachers (ISTs) are fully credentialed educators that will deliver high-quality, high interest learning experiences and enrichment opportunities in identified focus areas for students while enabling site administrators to release groups of teachers to attend professional development, participate in Professional Learning Team collaboration time, and collaborate within grade level or discipline teams.
Currently, our Itinerant Support Teacher team is being deployed to support PLT efforts at our Community Schools. We are piloting a reservation system at those sites, and we are working to refine the process. Stay tuned!
Professional Learning Team (PLT) Collaboration Time
Providing dedicated time for Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) will allow educators opportunities to directly improve teaching and learning.

PLTs allow teachers an easy way to share best practices and brainstorm innovative ways to improve learning and drive student achievement.

PLTs enhance teacher reflection of instructional practices and student outcomes.

2023-2024 Capacity Building Plan
In order to prepare the Future Ready Coaches for facilitating PLT’s and supporting site goals, we will provide ongoing capacity-building opportunities. This initiative will be led by the Teaching and Learning department and will be guided by Marisol Rexach and Diana Torres.
These opportunities include but are not limited to:

Coaching Skills

Foundational understanding of the SPSA

Data Analysis (Data Hub)

Content-related support and learning

Improvement Science

Promoting Learner Centered Classrooms

A schedule is under development and will be shared with you very soon! For now, please know that we are gathering the team this Friday, September 22nd to begin the learning. The team will work with the English Learner department to develop a deeper understanding of the SPSA.

Click here to see other ways our team can support you.
District Support Roles
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1I7ChlAiMuflMdvARYzgH74dIoPT5Ayi4UyxMCRlBYaE/edit?usp=sharing

We hope this information helps provide clarity and a better understanding of the system of support that is available to you and your school community.

You are receiving this email ahead of the Future Ready Coaches, a personalized email with this information will be sent to them this evening.

9/22 Meeting
-Administrators were reminded of the meeting.
-Outlook invitations were sent from Marisol.
-EL Programs will deliver a presentation, 9-9:45 AM.
- The rest of the time is for coaches, but Diana Torres, Executive Director is planning to open the meeting.
