Freud's theory on dreams is based on icons and how they have different meanings in different situations such as a man who was wanting to cause harm to his sister in law he dreamt the situation of the act taking place and her being represented as a dog and that was his brains way of protecting itself so he felt no guilt. this compares to my dream theory by the thought of symbolization and interpreting them differently than originally acted and having dreams play out the event but in a more dream-like way.

Freud believed that dreams were a rule of the iceberg theory. Where dreams are represented as an iceberg that has hidden things for a reason in the subconscious mind such as events with a traumatic memory or threatening or stressful past. He believed in conspiracies and reasons why our subconscious mind acted the way it did. And the deeper meaning behind why you dream a specific dream. Now I do agree with Freud to an extent, I still disagree. In my dreams, I have experienced some dreams related to what was happening in my life, but most of them were just random dreams. Non related to me.

Freud's theory was that our dreams in one way or another was symbolism for wish fulfillment. He believed our dreams tied into our unconscious. I do agree with Freud that our unconscious is a big part of our dreams, and something we dream about may be symbolism for something we want or are struggling with. I do not agree with his attempt of finding "universal symbolism" especially in regard to sex and violence, although it can still be common as people do struggle with those. Wish fulfillment in dreams can be something as simple as seeing a person you know in your life in the dream. Symbolism varies for each person and what was in the dream can mean something different from person to person. I don't believe that not all dreams need to be rooted in some deeper issue although, some dreams may just be what the brain curates as we sleep.

Freud believed that all dreams somehow symbolized the dreamer's wish fulfillment. I do believe that dreams symbolize something going on in our lives, but I do not believe that they all represent something we wish would happen. I believe his theory doesn't explain nightmares. Perhaps there are reasons to believe some nightmares do symbolize wishes, but I think there wasn't enough information on that to fully believe it. It also wouldn't explain things for the people who don't dream.

Freud believed that dreams are a symbol; a sign or the universe trying to tell you something. I somewhat agree with his theory. I believe that dreams are a way for your brain to signal you. Maybe about something important that you saw or heard the day before that you probably didn't catch.

Chelsy 3rd period.
Freud theory consisted in "dreams are wish fulfillment. any dream, no matter how terrifying, can be looked at as a way of getting something that you want". i agree with him because i believe elements in our everyday life can reflect on our feelings and feelings lead to thoughts, this could explain for example when we miss someone we think about them and this leads to dreaming about them.

Freud considered that dreams are wish-fulfillment which means your dreams are making your wishes sort of come true in some type of way. I believe that no matter what you dream, it's for a reason and that reason is to fulfill something that you desire without knowing it. It may be hard to recognize what you desire but your mind knows, which may be the reason why you dream about it. You might be trying to convince yourself that you want something even though you might wake up confused or scared because of what you dreamt about.

Grace Richardson
period 1
Freud believed in dream symbolism and based it on icons and how each dream has different situations or objects that want to happen. I believe everyone had a dream they wanted to remember positive memories. Freud believed in universal symbols in dreams. Some of them are very different from the ones I have because they are sexual in nature and violent. I believe dreams can cause a lot of things like fear, stress and anxiety.

Freud believed that in our dreams we are able to access the unconscious part of the mind and be able to fulfill our wishes. I believe that dreams are simply a random collection of memories and thoughts caused by random brain impulses during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. Its been proven that we dream only during REM sleep so what else could cause rapid eye movement but random brain impulses keeping us somewhat awake.

Some of these were sexual in nature, including poles, guns and swords representing the 🤬 and horse riding and dancing representing sexual intercourse.
