Just like the Jewish people during Christ's ministry the different races in South Africa were divided. Everyone was separated from one another just like the pharisees were separate from the Sadducees and them from the Essens. In both instances spiritual rifts formed causing the need for a "savior" Jesus Christ for the Jews and Nelson Mandela for the blacks.

In South Africa those who stood against injustice were killed, whipped, or imprisoned. In first century Canaan all those who "opposed" Rome or its close friends(Sadducees) were crucified, whipped, beaten, and executed. In both settings such atrocities were done to the main leader in each movement. Nelson was imprisoned for 27 years and Jesus was crucified on the stake. Although many years apart and much less consequences the circumstance are very similar.
