         <description><![CDATA[<p>The emblematic place in Coimbra that I chose was Quinta das Lágrimas where the</p><p>Fountain of Loves and Fountain of Tears. This place is associated with the love of D. Pedro and D. Inês.</p><p>Queen Santa Isabel ordered the construction of a canal that would carry water from the two nearby springs</p><p>to the Convent of Santa Clara. It later became known that this channel served to carry letters that D. Pedro and D. Inês exchanged between themselves and the place where the water comes from is now called “Fountain of Love”.</p><p>The “Fountain of Tears” (name given by the poet Luís de Camões) was the place where D. Inês  lost her life when she was murdered on the orders of King Afonso IV. Legend says that tears poured by D. Inês gave rise to the waters and her blood was trapped in the rocks </p>]]></description>
