It’s 8:00 pm and the Mystic Grill is crowded. Elena, Stefan and Damon are playing pool. Damon’s drinking bourbon. Stefan’s leaning on his pool stick waiting for his turn. Elena is gazing at Damon and giggling. It’s just another night in Mystic Falls.

All of a sudden, Klaus, the vampire/werewolf hybrid, walked in and approached the bar. They could tell Klaus was mad by the way he walked and the set expression on his face.

“Can I get a shot of Tequila?” he requested, his voice shaking. His eyes were filled with pain and rage. Nothing good could come of this.

Damon fearlessly approached him, demanding to know why Klaus was in town.

Klaus calmly explained to Damon that he came to see Caroline, to tell her that he loves her. Damon was highly amused. The thought of Caroline ever loving Klaus in return was disgusting.

“I’m shocked!” he said, sarcastically. Then, with a serious face, he added, “No one cares.”

Klaus glared, but then told him that earlier in the day, he had gone to Caroline’s house.

“I knocked on the door. When she opened it she asked, “What are YOU doing here?” I stepped past her into the living room. There, I told Caroline that I love her, but she laughed in my face and proclaimed that she would never love me. She shouted, “Get out of my house!” I was so pissed.” Klaus paused.

“Then what?” Damon asked.

“I snapped Caroline’s neck. Then, I dragged her to the woods and trapped her in The Tomb!” Klaus said shamefully. As a vampire she would not die, but would suffer there, for all eternity.

After listening to Klaus tell him about the awful things he had done to Caroline, Damon lost control. He punched Klaus in the face, then broke his neck and dragged him out of the bar with Elena and Stefan watching. Elena and Stefan dropped what they were doing and raced out of the bar after Damon. When they arrived at the Salvatore Boarding House they found Damon locking Klaus in The Cell with Vervain ropes wrapped around him. Ranting, Damon revealed to Stefan and Elena how Klaus had spent his day. Fuming about how her friend, Caroline, had been treated, Elena went storming down the stairs to the cellar with Stefan and Damon close behind. She slapped Klaus across the face. When he failed to react, Elena got even angrier. Breaking off a piece of the chair Klaus was sitting in, she stabbed him in the leg with it.

“What’s wrong with you?” Elena yelled at Klaus as he stared at her blankly.

Stefan was concerned for Caroline, “We need Bonnie to open the tomb.”

Elena exclaimed, “Bonnie is not strong enough. Last time she opened The Tomb, it almost killed her!”

“If she cares at all about her friend, she’s going to have to try,” stated Damon, as he pulled out his cell phone and gave her a call.

Bonnie met them at The Tomb even though she was anxious about not being strong enough to break the seal. It was dark and cold. She lit dozens of candles in a circle around herself. She was determined to open The Tomb and rescue her friend. When she nodded, Damon moved the giant boulder out of the doorway of The Tomb.

Elena shouted, “Bonnie, it's too dangerous for you to try to open The Tomb by yourself!”

“She has to do it,” Stefan calmly asserted.

Bonnie agreed, ”Stefan’s right, I have to do it. Caroline is our friend.”

Bonnie closed her eyes and started the spell. A sudden wind disturbed the quiet woods. As Bonnie chanted, she started to shake. She knew she was weak, but she was dead set on opening The Tomb. The wind got stronger. Her nose started to bleed. Caroline, hearing the commotion, approached the doorway. The candles flared, their flames suddenly growing taller. Realizing the seal had been lifted, Caroline raced out of The Tomb just before the seal crashed back into place. Bonnie had fainted. Elena, Damon, Stefan and Caroline all ran over to Bonnie. Elena raised her into a sitting position, leaning her against her shoulder. Stefan looked upset, but then Bonnie opened her eyes to see all four of them surrounding her.

“Hey, BonBon,” said Damon.

“Did Caroline get out? Is she safe?” Bonnie asked urgently.

Caroline spoke, “Its OK. I’m right here, Bonnie!”

Bonnie let out a sigh of relief. She was happy to see that Caroline was no longer trapped in The Tomb!

Caroline said, “You shouldn’t have tried to save me. You could have died!”

“I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I just left you in there,” Bonnie stated.

The five friends returned to the Salvatore Boarding House. Caroline immediately went to the cellar. She poured a whole bottle of Vervain water laced with wolfsbane down Klaus’ throat. It wouldn’t kill him, but it BURNED! She left him there to dessicate.
