<title>Makeup Trends from 20th century I started doing some research for my product for the genius hour, and what I wanted to do was show all beauty trends live through time using a manikin head. I had no idea what each time period specifically was, all I knew was that women had a really love hate relationship with thing eyebrows for a while. Since I researched decades 1910-2010… I’m only going to cover a few. The 1920’s were a pretty substantial decade for the evolution of makeup. Instead of makeup being taboo, World War One actually paved the way. Since many young men were off fighting in the war women had to start working. Makeup was used for women of all walks of life, to look more professional for jobs, and to attract the attention of the few eligible bachelors left from the war. The signature makeup that many people will remember when they think of the Gatsby era is the super skinny high arched brows with an exaggerated cupids bow lip. The signature eyeshadow at the time was a dark smoky eye with no blending at all, typically applied and meant to be in a very circular shape. Another decade I wanted to look at was the 1950’s. In my own personal opinion this was the PRIME of beauty. We have gorgeous icons like Elizabeth Taylor, Marylyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn to look at. The makeup was all about a soft feminine look. A couple things changed in this decade that really hadn’t been seen as mainstream before. Big lips and full well-groomed brows became very in. The red lip trend was on its way out, of course Marylyn Monroe was classic wearer of the red lip, most women preferred pink lips or some kind of pastel color. Eyeshadow became much more minimal and soft but the eyeliner became sharper. Defined winged liner was the signature thing to do at the time and was a classic look of the gorgeous Audrey Hepburn. http://glamourdaze.com/history-of-makeup/1900-1919</title>
