         <title>

Anxiety is presented in a variety of
forms: excessive stretching, goggle modifications, swim suit tightening or
hyperventilating. Stress occurs when&amp;nbsp;
perceived situations and abilities to handle the perceived situation are
not equal. Anxiety is associated with a state of apprehension or fear. Stress
and anxiety are interlinked, when an athlete feels stressed the situation is
too much to handle they begin to questions their abilities and are tense
causing anxiety.

         <title>Arousal can affect performance in many ways. There are several theories as to 
how stress affects performance. These are summarized in the 
following:
1) Drive Theory: Drive theory states that the more arousal 
and anxiety an individual experiences, the higher their performance will be. 

2) Inverted U Hypothesis: This theory posits that their is a 
medium amount of arousal and anxiety that causes one to perform higher - too 
little anxiety/arousal and too much anxiety/arousal will cause performance to be 
poorer.</title>

Focus is very important in hockey because you have to focus
on the ball and also focus on accuracy of passing &amp;amp; shooting on where I am
passing it and where I am putting the ball. Concentration is also important in
hockey because it helps you think of what positions to get into at the right
time. Concentration will improve your sports performance by ignoring everything
else and focusing on yourself and your own skill.

Concentration
is the ability to focus on the task at hand. A lack of concentration would be
detrimental to performance. For example when learning a skill you must
concentrate on the teacher&#39;s instructions or demonstrations. To improve
technique you may focus on one specific fault in your identified weakness. During
a competitive match you must concentrate on your opponents&#39; actions and
movements.
