As a literacy coach, it can be used to guide new teacher beginning their own library or those that are "revamping" an older one. These suggestions are a good starting point because they cover so many layers of the term diversity. When we hear the term diversity, we don't always recall all the different layers to this term and sometimes focus on "race" alone. 1. Table 1.2 - A Sampling of Recommended Diverse Literature, Alphabetized by Author.  These titles include recently published books, older titles, and some classics. 
2. Each section of the website focuses on a specific part of diversity. Each category - culture, race, class, and disability has some suggestions that include the book cover for each.
3. The short video titled, "Mirrors, Windows and Sliding Door" was an excellent listen.  It shares how students need to have books in which they can find themselves in.  They are also windows for students, where they can look through and see worlds that can compare and contrast to their own world.  A sliding door is also referenced because students can use that door to enter into that new world. ]]> 2021-11-25 00:54:21 UTC https://padlet.com/ashleypeters2/2b9qmwh8dph6zaxs/wish/1911522445
