- creating new projects based on the same language pair by using a template project
- setting preferences to speed up single file translation such as: setting minimal match value, adjusting the right measurements, applying penalty scores
- editing the source text and merging the segments across paragraphs in case of typos or bad formatting
- modifying the font by choosing "Options" from the Ribbon in order to make the text easier to read without affecting the generated target document
- Segment filtering by Advanced Display Filter (highlighting particular words, filtering by different options - comments, document structure, attributes)

* Method:
- watching a webinar by 4 experienced translators and implementing their tips on my own Trados Studio 2022 Desktop

* Learning outcomes:
- learning about different translation project options and which one is the most suitable one for each case (single file project, local project, cloud project)
- how to speed up my project creation via project templates
- how to apply needed changes to the source text
- learning about a time-saving tips on how to filter segments while dealing with very big files

* What I still need to learn is:
- how to work with different translation project types depending on my client's needs in the future

- familiarizing with the MemoQ desktop
- creating a translation project from scratch (managing TM, Termbase, pre-translate option)
- adding terms to Termbase
- using different shortcuts to speed up my workflow
- aligning document
- understanding basic options of resource control tool

* Learning outcomes:
- I know now how to manage a project creation
- I learned that I can choose two different file formats for alignment and split/join segments either in source or target text
- I can work on my project and alignment at the same time by choosing different segments to be matched in TM

We operated on a user-friendly, free, online platform for post-editing - MateCat.

* Learning activity:
- learning the differences between light and full post-editing
- understanding the "why" behind post-editing
- understanding how different MT tools function
- familiarizing with MateCat basic functions
* Method:
- I analyzed thoroughly one text put in different MT tools (such as Bing, Deepl, and Google Translate) and pointed out existing differences, then made required adjustments to the text
- I assessed the quality of the texts translated by MT tools on websites such as Booking.com (comments section) both in Spanish and Polish
- Comparing different MT tools in terms of the translation accuracy
- I was post-editing a text in Italian into Polish in MateCat

* Learning outcomes:
- I gained knowledge of the continuous importance of post-editing 
- I learned that Polish text (due to its rarity) required full-post editing in MateCat when compared to Italian or Spanish which means the database for the Polish language was poorer

Getting to know how the cloud works and how the content is secured is crucial for my future work as a freelance translator. It ensures that my client can trust me and provides me with knowledge of how to safely store my files. Thus, I decided to learn more by watching this webinar on cloud security. - understanding how RWS Language Cloud works on Trados
- getting to know security tools used by Trados (like Open Web Application Security Project)
- learning how to switch between online and offline on the cloud in order to deliver high-quality translations

*Learning outcomes:
- I know now that RWS enables my data to be saved in case of any emergency and that the cloud always backs up my projects so it's safe to use even if the server goes down. Also, I am aware now that using the cloud boosts the translator's efficiency and provides more control over project status.
