Many people began to listen to the radio. It was also a time that liquor was illegal and gangsters became popular. It was a time that dominated by the Republican Party. Many small businesses saw their end while bigger businesses started to boom. Several big business that took off are the automotive , aviation and electronic businesses. It also helped that many Americans started to use credit as a way to buy different things. There are several notable celebrities from this era, including Charles Lindberg, Charlie Chaplin, and Babe Ruth. The roaring 20's also saw one of the biggest economic crisis's that the worlds has ever seen. The 20's was definetly a time to remember. (2020). During this time it was legal and was an accepted practice used in America. Many  families could not afford raising a family without having their children work and be compensated for the work.  Many of the children were forced to work in unsafe and unsanitary conditions . Many children also did not attend school which led to uneducated adults. This made the poverty level sky rocket as the the adults were uneducated and were unable to get good wage paying jobs.  Many children were not paid good wages. This practice continued until 1938 when the Fair Standard Labor Act was enacted. This was used to protect and regulate child labor. Child Labor in the 1920's. (n.d.). Many families lived in overcrowded tenements  or apartments. During this time not only was there overcrowding, but also trash all over the streets and most homes were unsanitary with poor drinking water and sewage issues. Many people did not receive medical care and died from diseases that could have been treated. Many people during this age did not make very good wages and lived below poverty level.
