She is treated poorly by her parents and elder sister. She friends a red calf and the calf becomes her "fairy godmother" and helps her become more and more beautiful. Her family eventually discovers what is happening and she is told that she must kill the calf but instead while her sister holds the calfs head, she chops off her sisters head and runs away on the calfs back. She goes to a kirk and the prince thinks she is beyond beautiful and goes to find her. She had two sisters and they all lived with her father. When her father went on trips he always asked what they wanted him to bring back for them but Cinderella never asked for anything. He announced he was going on a trip and she finally asked for something. It was a bird. He complied and brought back a bird along with the sisters gifts and amazing information that there was 3 balls they were invited to but Cinderella was not interested. When they left she asked her bird to make her beautiful and the bird would make her beautiful and send her off to the ball each of the 3 times. She was given money the first time and sand the second time and she used it to get away so she wouldn't be late to get home and could distract the princes servants. The last time she blew her cover not having anything to throw back and she lost her slipper. They came the next day and found her and the slipper fit. Things such as lassie for girl and bonnie for pretty/ attractive. There is an indication in the beginning that tells you exactly where the story takes place which is in Lombardy, Italy. The only differences deal with the step mother not being present in the Italian version as well as they multiple balls and things thrown as distractions. The original Cinderella is very sweet and innocent whereas Rashin-Coatie is kind of gory in a way. Heads are chopped and toes are chopped in this version making it very different than the original.
