The Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was created through the collaboration of northern and southern African American students. They not only sat-in at lunch counters, but created "wade-ins" at all-white pools and "pray-ins" at churches.

The sit-ins gave birth to an official civil rights movement, where students all across the U.S. protested peacefully for their rights. These events indirectly inspired the 1964 Civil Rights Act, '65 Voting Rights Act, and the '68 Housing Act. This would not have been possible without the four students at Greensboro.

The retaliation of police towards the protests broke the 14th amendment, which gave blacks equal rights. Through segregation, the lie was that we were "separate but equal," which was not true due to the lower quality of everything for African Americans.
