The genocide of the Kurds started in 1986. There were 25-30 million Kurds in the world. The Iraqi used gas bombs to kill them. The Kurds took control of the Iraq military base and the Iraqi aimed their gas bombs at the base. People were living against what they believed. They attacked them after World War 1. 3,000-5,000 innocent Kurds were killed. It was mostly woman and children that died, and a lot of people were severely injured. Why? A letter called Brother vs Brother states, "They're causing us a hell of a problem," says Zebari. "We depend on the good will of Turkey to keep international protection." The Iraqi thought the Kurds were causing them problems in there country. They wanted to keep their country safe and they wanted everyone to believe what they wanted them to believe. The Kurds were confused because just because they don't believe have the same beliefs as the Iraqi doesn't justify killing them. I think the Air Force should have thought how they would feel if someone starting bombing them even if they didn't do anything wrong, but people just thought they were causing the problems. I mean when they starting bombing them they couldn't really think about what they are doing they had to just do or else they would be killed also. CNN states that on "September 25, 2017 - (IRAQ) Iraqi Kurds vote in favor of declaring independence from Iraq." Most recently, the Kurds are trying to get independence for there ethnic group. They don't want another genocide to happen and they believe that if they can rule themselves no one else can rule them. Also from the PBS a video stated "Fighting ISIS, Kurds seek chance to govern themselves." The Kurds are fighting to get freedom for themselves. Another important fact that I found is that woman have been holding up signs for there freedom. They are doing big things to get their independence. 
  During the genocide something that was going on was that World War I was coming to an end.
