         <description><![CDATA[<div>E: A focus on international mindedness creates learners who are curious, respectful, and empathetic towards those whose opinions, backgrounds, and experiences may be different from their own.&nbsp;</div><div>N: I would be curious about additional resources that can be used in our classroom to promote more conversations about international mindedness and make it a more common conversation/action piece.&nbsp;</div><div>S: I am extremely supportive of the inclusion of international mindedness in our school’s PYP. Moving forward, I would love additional conversations and planning around how to include the topic more thoroughly throughout our curriculum.&nbsp;<br>W: I do not have any hesitancies with including international mindedness in our school. I think it is an important focus as we seek to prepare our students to be compassionate and inquiring lifelong learners. </div>]]></description>

Students feeling connected to one another and embracing their differences.<br>N: Additional examples of the ongoing opportunities to discuss and reflect on cultural, linguistic, ethnic and social diversity in the classroom.<br>S: This is wonderful and I always try to create a community where everyone feels included and would love to learn more about international-mindfulness.<br>W: I don’t see any downsides or negatives about being internationally mindful. As anything else in the education world, teachers have to be aware of areas/times in day where they can incorporate this.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>E: <strong>International-mindedness is something I believe every school should be instilling in students. It teaches students to be global thinkers, to respect and appreciate the differences between themselves and the people around them. </strong><br>W: I don't believe there are any drawbacks or negatives about international mindedness. It is something that should be considered across all subjects and classes in the school. <br>N: <strong>I would like more information and resources to expose my students to various cultures through other avenues in addition to literature and books. I feel like I put international mindedness at the forefront when choosing texts, but would like other opportunities to encourage this principle to my students. </strong><br>S:&nbsp;<strong>I believe all people should be internationally-minded. I think it is a view on the world we should encourage all children to have. I think our school is taking the right steps to encourage this through classroom teachers as well as connect. It is noticeable that music, language, and art teachers put this at the forefront of their planning.&nbsp;</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>E- </strong>Considering the differences and similarities among groups on a global scale and being able to respect the culture, language, views, etc of different groups.<br>The upside is that diversity can be exposed and celebrated.<br><strong>W- </strong>Nothing worries me about the idea of international mindedness. I’m not sure if there are any downsides.<br><strong>N- </strong>Are there distance learning programs for students from different parts of the world to see each other and to interact (with translators)? <br><strong>S-</strong>International-mindedness is a fantastic idea. Our school is somewhat demographically diverse when compared to other schools in CMS. Moving forward, there could simply be more school projects to embrace international-mindedness. I.e. International school festivals</div>]]></description>

My experience with the school has largely been under the umbrella of the pandemic. However, personally I try to make sure the ideas values, traditions, and cultures of each of my students are represented in lessons throughout the school year. Google translate could even be a great resource that teachers could use in this "Meet and Greet" environment. It could be a short and sweet 5 minute class. i.e. Today, we are going to see kids in Brazil, and hear/learn how to say hello in Portuguese from them.</div>]]></description>
