I would interact with the children by joining in on their games if they would like me too. I would be commenting, praising and acknowledging how the kids may be playing and what they are playing with. Helping them if they need my help or teaching them how to do things like if they needed help with building things

if a child is in the home corner which is a section in the corner of the classroom I’ve worked in, I’d usually go over with proud/excited body language so a big smile with my hands maybe by my mouth and make a positive comment on a fake cake they’ve made , I’d also encourage everyone to ‘try the cake’ and show me false eating the cake so they can understand what role play is I would possibly go over to another staff member and ask them what they think to

Ask the children that may not know what they wanna do at free play, what they fancy and give them ideas of what they can do and what might interest them.

I would go over with a happy positive attitude and have a happy tone to make them feel safe and that they can talk to me.

I could also ask them to join in on there games and ask them to explain how you play or what to do in the game and give them full attentions.

I would help with trying new foods if they have them and are scared to try, I would show them how to use certain foods for example peeling an orange so they can learn how to do it themselves and they would feel proud of themselves as I praise them.

Getting involved with the children and matching the energy they are giving you. Make them feel included and understood. Speak to them in a language they would understand whilst trying to introduce new words to them

During free play children might understand better if you use hand gestures. Make sure they feel relaxed and your tone is soft and use simpler words that they would understand.

Encouraging games and role play to learn new words and increase confidence and social capabilities. This will also help children extend their vocabulary and keep them confident around other children and social interactions. You could also join in on games and give them new ideas on what to do with playful body language to keep them entertained and make them feel as if they can express themselves the same way you are.

Not pressuring the children to do story time, but if they want to then be engaging with exaggerated actions, motions and voices to make sure the children are active in the interaction, communicating with them and asking them if they want to guess what happens next or if they know what happens, to have positive interactions.

Ask them how there day is going so far and ask them if they have enjoyed there day if they haven’t then suggest ideas on how to make it better. Ask them what they have learnt, and that they liked learning best.

I’d offer any support cutting food tucking there chairs in, I would make sure I’m saying exactly what I’m doing sign there food so ‘I’m just using the knife to slice through your yummy lunch’ if the child was full or not eating there snack or lunch in the first place I would of course offer and double check there definitely not hungry by offering them a different option from the fruit bole

I would get them to interact with the book for example “going on a bear hunt” and have them do hand signals along with the story aswell as making noises like with mud it would be “squelch, squolch”. I could have them take in turns reading a few words each if they were a bit older in age and would congratulate them in their success in learning new words.

Make sure you are allowing children to come over to story time because they want to not because you are making them. Make it exciting and make it enthusiastic when you tell them it’s story time. Make them feel comfortable and relaxed and make sure there involved in the story telling

during free play, I would involve myself with the activities the children are taking part in and I would present myself with the right balance between being fun and also calm so I suit each children’s individual needs so they don’t feel intimated at any stage. I would take it at the children’s pace and encourage them to expand on their vocabulary choices by asking leading questions which influences them to choose to use new words which will make their language more advanced.

You could ask them what there favourite foods are and encourage them to eat there fruit and vegetables but in a playful manner to make it more enjoyable. You should work to keep a calm stable atmosphere for the children so they can enjoy there food without feeling the need to bring toys to the table.

I would build up positive tension surrounding how exciting the story is going to be, I would ask if anyone knows this story or have read it before, I would explain how me telling the story is going to work so for example I’d say first I’m going to read the page and then show everyone the picture, if it was a silly funny story I’d make sure my body language matches that the same for if it was a calm cozy story and I’d set the seen saying everyone get comfy in there carpet spaces

During Playtime you can do to support communication is by following the child’s lead and join in the activity and be engaged and act out a scene of their play and narrate what your doing, to try and encourage the children to do creative play and also encourage expressions language as they are learning from seeing you do it.

I would say things like “do you think that we will find a troll or fairy today” or interact with what they find insteresting while outside. I would help them learn new things while outdoors and make sure they have a understanding of safety issues like not wondering off if we went to forest school for example. I would walk along side them incase they felt uncomfortable in any scenario and just all together join in and make sure they are all having fun!

I wouldn't force the child to finish there meal if they don't want to and id encourage them to try finish or try new things that may seem scary and use positive language like it's yummy and id praise them if they've ate more than usual and encourage them to eat healthy things and how it's important to stay healthy and have a balanced diet

During meal time, I will be mindful that children eat at different paces and some eat better than others so I won’t be pushy if a child eats more than another one. I’ll encourage the children to try new foods if there is one present because it will help expand their taste buds and influence their development with trying new foods. I will ensure the environment is calm and I’ll talk in a calm tone including phrases such as ‘it’s yummy’ and I will verbally make comments on the colours of the food so the children can deletion on their colour recognition.

I would help the children about understanding any rules when doing outdoor learning and activities that are outdoors and help the children put their outdoor clothes on, for example coats, gloves, hat and hivis. I would ensure I am following the rules myself and use a positive and safe environment towards the children. I could ask the children what they see and what colours they can see and play a game with them about colours and can help them with re-correcting them with words if needed.

Make the story’s exciting and when reading make your tone over exaggerated to keep the children engaged and excited through the whole story. Also make sure to use plenty of body language to give the children a strong picture of what is happening in the story. You could also ask them questions about the book like what they think is going to happen next to keep them excited for it to continue.

I would make sure everyone I’m with is aware of rules, I’d possibly make a story about the place for example we are in a magical wood so keep and eye out for any magical things or noises, I’d make sure I’m very aware of which children i am responsible for or child on a 1:1 basis, depending on the child’s need I would make sure I’m moving at a pace that works for them and be very open to express possible route changes if it was r accessible for some children

You could put the children into groups to encourage social interactions amungst each other and set them small tasks to keep them busy. You should also point out small things you notice such as flowers and trees so they can observe and learn from it.

During story time, I will present myself with a calm tone and a welcoming body language so the children feel safe to come and join in with the story. I’ll ensure I change my voice tone based on the part of story we are on ensuring my voice doesn’t became too loud and passionate in which will intimidate the children. I won’t force the children to stay and interact with the book because it could influence the way they react to things later down the line. I’ll incorporate hand movements whilst reading because it could accommodate each child’s needs if some learn through visual examples and hand gestures.

Having a calm environment and a structure when coming to the mealtimes help the children understand food is coming out you sure always make sure the children know what’s on the plate and encourage the children to at least try it but we will not force them or punish them. Make them excited to get food and praise them if they are eating or tried a new thing. You can try and ask them to see what would help them eat food if they are refusing to eat like you helping for abit.

Id make sure the children are safe and if they need anything to let the staff know if also communicate that they need to be careful near roads and crossing roads and how they need to stop looking and listen to make sure it's safe to cross I also wouldn't make them feel scared by saying if they don't do something then something bad will happen as they could get really anxious and frightened and say how at this point we need to be careful.id also point out things like trees flowers or animals and colours of cars like say what colour is that car to help learn colours and to keep them entertained while we go out

During outings, I will ensure the children are safe and when walking they are on the side of the pavement furthest away from the road. I will make it clear to the children and explain the green man and red man and the different colour lights in a way they understand so they can slowly develop their understanding of road safety. I will encourage the children to hold someone’s hand when crossing the road and explain it’s too keep them safe and this is what we do when we cross the road. Whilst on the outings, I could sing nursery rhymes whilst walking so it’s engaging for the children and it makes the journey quicker for them.

Make it known you are doing a story time and let the children come over when they are ready and make it sound exciting. Whilst reading make sure your engaging with the children like be exaggerating and make sound affects/actions to get them fully into the story and then it’s easier for them to retell the story.
