Bullying and Cyberbullying is something that occurs on a school campus almost daily. There are not many federal or state laws that directly protect a person from Bullying or Cyberbullying while on a school campus, so this becomes an issue that is hard to consistently punish. The school districts are left to set their own policies and procedures of how they will define bullying and cyberbullying and handle acts of bullying and cyberbullying will be handled or disciplined. As a school counselor it is our job to educate the students as well as staff of to recognize and handle such situations. We are the support system set in place for the school.

I am watching our students spend more than 70% of their day on a computer in order to do their course work. This is naturally going to mean that more students are going to experience some sort of cyberbullying. Now students can hid behind a computer screen or a zoom video and bullying someone, where as before they would bullying them in person while on campus.
