My hometown is a province, however, it is slowly developing itself into a modern town. Although it's far from the development of the towns and cities here in Metro Manila, it is growing and improving steadily. The most notable landmark in Abra is the Plaza where most notable and familiar establishments are located as well as where most events and public gathering are performed. Bangued, Abra is unfortunately known for rather violent and political disputes and the only thing that I can associate is that i'm an Ilocano and the dialect spoken there is Ilocano. - ALIZJA ASTUDILLO

Marikina is best known for making good quality foot wear. It is called Marikina because it came from the name "Marikit" which means beautiful. Marikina river, SM Marikina, Sports Center and the Clock Tower are some famous landmarks in our city. Marikina is known as the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines" for its famous shoe industry. Some characteristics of Marikina that I identify with are; it is a very open and welcoming city hence its celebration of pride month every year, it is a clean city which is how I like everything around me and lastly, it is a sporty place where a lot of people could exercise which I love, I used to spend at least 3 hours everyday at Marikina Sports Center with my classmates playing volleyball.

Merilou Mytrix Rivera

Because of this, Quezon City is the largest city in Metro Manila and also in the Philippines. The city was named after the late president Manuel L. Quezon. Which leads to the famous landmark of Quezon City is the Quezon Memorial Circle, it is a park and a shrine for Manuel L. Quezon. Quezon City has so much to offer yet the sureness of your safety isn't one of them. Quezon City is also a very well-developed town that consist of so much malls and establishments, it's like a never-ending building establishments. The top 2 universities are also in the city which are Ateneo De Manila University and Unibersidad ng Pilipinas and this also includes Miriam College.

RODOLFO, ANDREA DENISE P.

-Ma. Laya Soleil Perez (IIBSEP)

I grew up in Antipolo, Rizal. It is known for its pilgrimage sites such as the Antipolo Cathedral and Boso Boso Chruch. Furthermore, it is known for its scenic views and ecotourism spots such as the Mystical Cave and Hinulugang Taktak. Another top site is the Pinto Art Museum, known for its contemporary and indigenous art exhibition. These famous landmarks and tourist spots can be seen in the mountainous areas of Antipolo. However, in my case, I am mostly exposed to the modernized part of the city, particularly what locals call "lower Antipolo." I live along the Marikina–Infanta Highway, where the border between Pasig, Cainta, Marikina, and Antipolo is found. You could mostly see infrastructures and commercial buildings in my area such as the Santolan Station, as well as various malls like Robinsons Metro East, Ayala Malls Feliz, SM Marikina, SM Masinag, Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall and right in front of my subdivision, APT Studios - the new home of Eat Bulaga. It also has several subdivisions such as Vermont Park, Vermont Royale, Filinvest, Kingsville, and my subdivision, Town & Country. Despite the increase in demand for land in our area due to such advancements, these have also led to the deterioration of the natural environment, pollution, lack of open spaces, lack of a strong sense of cultural identity, and overall, made the city more congested.

- Vanesa Therese F.

I grew up in the historical city of Taguig. It is known for its rich culture and history. I am a native of Taguig which is why the traditions and practices that we have are very important to me. Our city is called a “probinsyudad” because living here is like living in a city and a province at the same time. One of the famous places in the city is the Bonifacio Global City located at Fort Bonifacio which used to be a military base, and a very significant place in the Philippine history. BGC is now a highly developed business district and the home of various international schools and embassies. The city’s main sources of living in the past are fishing and farming. Taguig came from the word “Taga-giik” which refers to people who plant and harvest rice. There is a festival called “Pista ng Banak” or river fiesta to thank the Lord and St. Anne for the abundance of fishes in the river which is connected to Laguna de Bay. Up to this day, people still celebrate it, and it’s also one of the celebrations that I look forward to every year. In our town, we strictly observe religious practices, including the ones being observed during the holy week. I personally join religious processions, and participate in different feasts. The people in our place are very much acquainted, which is why we’re used to sharing food with those we are close with in the community. My experiences growing up in Taguig city taught me to value the importance of being grateful for our natural and man-made resources. I learned to always thank the Lord for all the blessings that I receive and to share whatever I can to other people. Wherever I go, I will bring the lessons that I learned growing up and the values that my family taught me.

(own photo)

Marikina is known as the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines," where almost 70% of the shoes all over the country were manufactured here. In Marikina, we are known to have great politicians as well as well-disciplined citizens which explains why there are almost zero crimes happening here. Being a Marikeña, it's just ingrained in us to be neat, respectful, and sociable. Those three characteristics can be seen in the mornings and afternoons where people would just clean their yards and just socialize with the others who are just simply passing by.

- Kyle Jade Villena

Barangay Talipapa is such a small community and almost everyone within the vicinity is my relative!! And coming from its name "Talipapa" our place is known to have a lot of wet and dry markets. A landmark I grew up to love is the Villilia Park because when I was little, I used to study at the daycare center across from the park. When it was time for our recess, our teachers would help us cross the street so we could eat our snacks there and have fun at the playground. Come my elementary and high school days, I transferred to a Catholic school that is just 3 minutes away from this park and at the time, the park became a place for me to hang out with my friends and to perform for our school activities. This place is such a humble area but it has so much to offer (as you can see in this map). And I think I embody that characteristic--someone who may seem quiet at first, but actually has a lot of things to put on the table.

To be honest I am not the type of person who goes out and explore places all the time but if I have to describe my hometown I think it would be a place that has all the necessity that a person needs. Antipolo City is known as a Catholic pilgrimage site. It is because of the image of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or the Virgin of Antipolo that has been there for 17th century that attracts thousands of believers every year. In general, the characteristics of Antipolo are hilly and mountainous, and has a temperate climate.
- Christelle Tuazon

Our house holds so many memories since it was our grandparents' first house and was passed down to my mom for she mostly took care of them in their later years. As a kid, I always found my hometown dreary for we were isolated from my relatives who lived in the metro. But as I grew older, I grew into loving the peacefulness and safety of my hometown. Our village sits at the foot of small mountains, which gives us the chance to hike and even jog around the neighborhoods while enjoying the somehow fresh air. Being in Antipolo, I must say that the key characteristics of our hometown is evident during elaborate Sto. Nino festival where we all gather in our parishes and become one big community eating together and celebrating. Also, being a Pilgrimage capital, we take pride in how grand our parishes are and how they never fail to amaze first time visitors.

Despite being born in Manila City. I grew up here in Marikina city with my Family and this on this spot is where we live. I love living here because it's quiet and the neighbors in our neighborhood are all kind hearted people. If there are celebrations in our home and we have extra food we give it out and share it to our neighbors and they do the same for us. We have different landmarks in our City, to name some we are know for the shoe capital of the Philippines so we have different kinds of local shoe stores here in Marikina. We also have our sport center where the Mariquenos can do jogging and exercise do different types of sports there for just 10 peso entrance fee. Most of all, our City is the cleanest City I know that is why I see my co-Mariquenos as someone who is responsible and they we mostly mind our own business so you never see anyone fighting on the streets everyone seems like they are all friends we help each other out in our City as much as we can.
JANNE CHARISSE S.

Patricia Santos - I grew up in Al Khobar I had a lot of good memories here. I was able to meet my childhood friends, our parents who leave us in this center and all we do is play with their kitchen set. Those friends are still my friends up until now, but not as close as we used to. Our field trips were the best, we use to go to my favorite mall called Rahmania. There are cool rides connected outside and inside it's quite hard to imagine but it is so cool that my 19 year old self still remember my 7 year old self riding those rides. If I can bring back time those are the moments I want to bring back. Because that country, I knew how happy I was.
