The large creature at the center was imagined by Dalí as we see that it had a deformed nose and face. We can also see the melting clocks on the left section of the picture. This creates some illusions in the mind which are quite unrealistic. Dalí was inspired by cheese melting under the sun although some claims were that he was inspired by Einstein's theory of relativity.

SURREALISM

This was an art movement that was established in the year 1924 by André Breton with the principal aim of creating and emphasizing illusions and imaginations in the context of reality. André together with other artists such as Salvador Dalí wanted to break away from traditional art and create juxtaposed images which were irrational and imaginary. Though the movement was less violent than its original Dada movement, it was still characterized by anti-rationalist aspects. Some of the famous artists of this movement included Salvador Dalí, Max Ernst, René Magritte and Joan Miró.

Today surrealism has played a major role especially in the field of Graphic Design. Designers are able to manipulate images and create illusionary and unrealistic images on newspapers, magazines or billboards. It is quite interesting to note that they also acquire their creativity through surrealism.

The farm shown here is quite imaginative as this is an illustration of Joan's surrealistic view of art. The animals in the farm are very exaggerated and look quite extraordinary in this case.

This artist creates abstract artworks that emphasize on reality despite appearing unreal. Some of his ideas were borrowed from surrealism as well. He manipulated and distorted many artworks to give the observer a realistic view of unrealistic art.

THE ELEPHANTS TRUMPETING BY VLADIMIR KUSH

Vladimir makes surrealistic images of elephants literally with trumpets. This just shows how he thought out of the world and use the metaphor of a trumpet on an elephant's face.
