The battles caused distrusted on all sides. A colorado militia came upon an unarmed came of Cheyenne and Arapaho Indianans, that were under The US Armies protection,  killed many men, women and children. 

red river- marks the end of the southern buffalo herds and opens the western panhandle of texas to white settlers. US government was at fault for not forcing the 19867 Treaty of Medicine Lodge> White men weren't kept off of Indian hunting grounds, food and supplies. Hostiles began with an attack by Indians on a group of Texans near the red river

battle of little big horn- George Custer rushed ahead of other columns of US cavalry and arrived ahead of the main force. 250 men should up unexpectedly upon a group of 200 Indians and scared the Indians. Crazy horse led the charge in killing all of Custer and his men.


battle of wounded knee- Loss of leaders caused Native Americans ability to resist fall apart. Many Indians welcomes a religous revival. Practitioners preached that rituals would banish white settlers. Popularity of the movement spread and caused the government to arrest Sitting Bull and many others. A lot of them were killed .
