This article by Daksha Morjaria connects to many aspects of our unit plan. India, the world's largest democracy, has an election process that is different from most other countries. It takes place in 7 stages over the course of 6 weeks. We can connect this to lesson 8 which discusses the voting process. This article also includes an infographic showing how the government is formed which connects nicely to lesson 2 on the US branches of government. The article also shows how their ballots have symbols like logos to help people associate themselves with political parties. This can be connected to lesson 4 on political parties.

This article written by the BBC explains that in 2020 in Belarus, there were protests due to the outcome of an election where an autocratic president won. The people of Belarus did not trust in their democracy, as they claimed the election was rigged, and instead decided to protest the results they saw as unfair. This reaction from the people of Belarus show peoples’ desperateness for democracy, for their voices to be heard, and for control in their government.
