Providing an introduction to the Jisc digital transformation in higher education toolkit

The three short taster surveys aim to provide a quick and gentle way to introduce the framework and maturity model to senior leaders and those leading digital transformation and to act as a focus for further discussions and collaboration.

Each is an online self-assessment tool that helps people consider digital transformation in HE in under 10 minutes. Participants are asked to print and save a pdf of their responses and share these with colleagues. Results are anonymous and do not provide any information directly to their organisation.

Rather than focusing on the toolkit this taster survey gets digital leaders thinking about the core issues that need to be considered at their organisation. It takes them though the 5 sections of the infographic above asks them to reflect on where their organisation sits and highlight what is already being done.

We envisage that the surveys could be shared with stakeholders who then bring results to a workshop (virtual or physical) to discuss results and find ways to use the toolkit to move forward.

Introduces people to all elements of the framework and different parts of the toolkit

Focuses on just one area from each of the framework's core elements. For each of these, we highlight the middle stage of digital maturity and offer a checklist of activities as examples of good practice.

Introduces people to the overarching element of the digital transformation framework and maturity model

Our research pilot with 24 higher education providers highlighted that organisational digital culture underpinned successful digital transformation. This area includes overarching aspects of digital transformation that may not be 'owned' by one team.

We developed this taster survey to encourage engagement with this element of the framework and maturity model. For each of the four sections of this element, we offer a checklist of activities as examples of good practice and highlight the middle stage of digital maturity for one aspect.
