Being captain of my high school soccer, wrestling and track and field teams directly reflects my leadership skills. The unanticipated knee injury in my final year of playing women’s varsity soccer for Saint Mary’s University resulted in the consequential loss of being captain and helping my team to a successful season. It took me four years and changing programs three times to learn that (or 22 years). I always thought that after sixteen some odd years of being a student, in a classroom, that I would move on to something new. I never realized until much later on that everything I enjoy and everything I am good at leads me towards the path of teaching.
