Trigger Finger to put it in simpler terms is when your fingers get stuck, but what really is it? Trigger Finger tends to happen most often to the ring finger and thumb. This occurs when the tendon that controls that finger can't glide smoothly in the sheath that surrounds it (A sheath is the bands/ pulleys that helps bend the finger). When this happens the tendon sheath becomes swollen or a lump forms on the tendon. It is most common is women of the age of 50, higher risk if you have diabetes, low thyroid function or Rheumatoid Arthritis. Most people don't even have an explanation for why it's irritated and swelling. It can be cause by if your constantly moving your fingers back-and-forth, because that can cause a lump called a nodule.

A doctor or health care provider will ask for you to take a Physical exam. While that s happening the doctor will then ask you questions about your symptoms, they might also use imaging tests like ultrasounds and X-rays to see the bones and tissue. They might also straighten the bent finger to hear or feel any clicking that might be happening.
