This conversation is with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who was a friend of Susan B. Anthony's, and also advocated for Women's Rights. Additionally, they edited and published a woman's newspaper called the "Revolution", from 1868 to 1870. In 1869, Anthony and Stanton formed the "National Woman Suffrage Association".

Elizabeth: Hey! I was just writing an article for our newspaper, and I wanted to just run something by you.

Susan: Hi! What did you need to tell me?

Elizabeth: Some people are starting to make fun of our news paper and calling us "as important as George Washington"! I can't believe this! I will put a picture of a political cartoon that I saw that was making fun of us!

Susan: How rude! Well, that's okay. We are working towards a very important cause. They're laughing now, but they will respect us soon enough.

*Note: At the time, according to America's Library, George Washington was not considered a very important person. Obviously, now this doesn't make much sense because he is a huge part of history.*

Playlist

God is a Woman-Ariana Grande
Lyric: You, you love it how I move you / You love it how I touch you / My one, when all is said and done / You'll believe God is a woman / And I, I feel it after midnight / A feelin' that you can't fight / My one, it lingers when we're done / You'll believe God is a woman
We chose to add this song to Susan B. Anthony's playlist because this is a very empowering song for women, and this was the goal that Susan B. Anthony was hoping for. When this song came out this year, many people talked about how this song represented the strength of womanhood. I think that this would have made Susan B. Anthony happy that she had helped make progress in ways that led up to this show of equality.
A Change is Gonna Come-Sam Cooke
Lyric: It's been too hard living, but I'm afraid to die / 'Cause I don't know what's up there, beyond the sky / It's been a long, a long time coming / But I know a change gonna come, oh yes it will
Although this song is a much older song and was originally actually about the Civil Rights Movement, we still thought this would be a good song to include on Susan B. Anthony's playlist. This is mostly because she was an advocate for women's equality, so we believe that she would also be an advocate for equality in general. So, not only would she relate to this song, but we think that she would also be moved by the true meaning behind the song.
Run the World (Girls)-Beyoncé
Lyric: Some of them men think they freak this like we do / But no they don't / Make your check come at they neck / Disrespect us no they won't
For the last song that we are going to include for Susan B. Anthony's playlist, we wanted to include another song about women empowerment. This song was talked about positively when it first came out because it showed that women were powerful and could do anything that a man could do. We think that Susan B. Anthony would have wanted this song on her playlist because it portrays the core belief that she had, which was that women should be treated as equals in society.

The picture that we chose to put onto Susan B. Anthony's phone was a picture of a golden "Votes for Women" pin. We chose this because her main focus was to get women to be able to vote because they deserved to have an equal say in politics as men did. Additionally, we chose to make sure that the button was gold because Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton adopted the Kansas state symbol, the sunflower, to represent their cause. Gold pins, ribbons, sashes, and yellow roses were worn to show support for suffrage, such as the button we chose to include as her background.

This picture is from when Susan B. Anthony protested the illegality of females to vote and cast her ballot along with several other women at the West End News Depot in Rochester, New York. She was ultimately arrested because her vote was illegal under The Enforcement Act. The Act would require a maximum penalty of $500 or three years imprisonment. After her arrest and months of court hearings, Anthony was later fined $100, a sum of which she
promised “never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty.” Anthony never paid the fine. We think that she would have a picture of this moment on her phone because it caused her a great suffering, but ultimately had a great reward, so we think that she would take pride in this.

One app that we believe that Susan B. Anthony would have had would be the app called RadioPublic. It is a podcast app. Since she did some public speaking to spread her belief that women should be allowed to vote, we believe that she would also have wanted to make podcasts in order to explain her cause to an even larger audience.

Another app that we believe that she would have had would have been Feedly, which is a news app. We believe that she would have wanted to have this app on her phone because she and Elizabeth Cady Stanton ran a newspaper together, and they probably would have wanted to share in on here so that more people would read about Women's Suffrage. Additionally, we believe that they would have wanted to read about other women who believe in the same cause.

Lastly, we believe that she would have had the app Vote With Me. This is an app that gives you the ability to encourage your friends to vote. We think that she would have used this app in order to encourage other women to stand up against the law and vote just like her and other women were starting to do in order to inspire change.

We decided to include this picture because we found it incredibly interesting. Many people thought that even the idea of a woman voting was absurd, so many would not have wanted to support a cause such as this. However, there were also a large number of women behind her cause that would have wanted to hear what she had to say, her plans for change in the future, and to hear if there was anything they could do to help the cause. The fact that so many people were there for her and wanted her to succeed we believe would have moved her very much, which is why she would want to have a picture of this on her phone to serve as a reminder. Additionally, we thought that is picture could have served Susan B. Anthony as a reminder that she was supposed to be speaking on October 12.

The last picture that we decided to include on Susan B. Anthony's phone was a picture of her family because she was very close to her family, especially her father. Additionally, her family depended on her for many things. According to Notable Biographies, one of the things that she was most depended on was helping her father run the family farm so that he could spend more time trying to develop an insurance business. However, she was often gone spreading information on the Women's Suffrage Movement, so she would have missed them very much, and they would have missed her too. Therefore, we thought that it would be important to include a picture of her family on her phone.
