         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>She is well known for being the first woman to serve in congress in 1916.</li><li>Jeannette Rankin supported measures to protect women workers, mothers and children.&nbsp;</li><li>She was one of the founding members of the Committee on Woman Suffrage, which led the fight in the House of Representatives for a constitutional amendment that would grant women nationwide the right to vote.</li><li>She helped to establish women's health education programs.</li><li>Rankin devoted her time out of office to the pacifist cause, working with the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.&nbsp;<br><br></li></ul><div><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>She refused to allow politics to interfere with her personal beliefs and morals. Rankin worked briefly in social work before focusing her energy on the women's suffrage movement. Rankin worked towards equality and empowerment of vulnerable and oppressed populations. The social justice of women and children were very important to Rankin. She used her voice and influence to ensure women would have a say on what happens in the nation. Rankin also fought for peace and children's protection. She was an inspirational leader who made leaps and bounds for equal rights. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>Jeannette was born in Montana on June 11, 1880, and was one of 7 children.</li><li>Her father was a rancher and her mother a schoolteacher.</li><li>In 1902 she obtained her biology degree and started a short career in teaching.</li><li>Between 1902 and 1911 she had many careers including social work and seamstress.&nbsp;</li><li>Rankin found her passion in 1911 in advocating for the women's suffrage.&nbsp;</li><li>In 1914 Rankin helped grant women the right to vote in Montana.</li><li>In 1916 she runs for office and won representing the first woman elected to congress.</li><li>In 1920 Rankin created and helped pass the 19th amendment.</li></ul><div><br><br></div>]]></description>
