The Speaker was Martin Luther King Jr.
The Audience was the white people who put him in the jail and have some issues with giving human rights to black people.
The purpose of this work is to convince people to realize that it is mistake of putting King Jr in the jail and to convince them that it is time for them to give civil rights to black people.
The tone was confident for Martin and his cause. King Jr. presented his cause and opinion through his confident diction and tone.

I personally think the most striking historical movement analogy was the one that King Jr. mentioned about Hitler and Hungarian freedom fighters. King Jr. mentioned, "We should never forget that everything Adolf Hitler did in Germany was "legal" and everything that Hungarian freedom fighters did was "illegal". King Jr. knew that black people are fighting for their freedom, similar with Hungarian freedom fighters against Hitler (in King Jr.'s case, White people) . King Jr. compared both sides and show that King Jr believed that whatever he do was correct and justified compared to his imprisonment by white people who view his actions as illegal.

Martin Luther King, Jr. is the speaker as he writes his speech in a confident and well-mannered way for the white people and several others that put him in jail for some issues that he shouldn't have to take fault for. He writes this letter to bring forward that he's being stripped of his civil rights as an African American and that him being in jail is unnecessary and wrong.

Martin discussed the cause and effect of the protest by Rosa Parks. He discussed the cause of Rosa Parks and her protest of endlessly suffering with white controlled system. However, Martin King Jr . believed that this event would affect the white people of religion and caused them to their allies and was mistaken which ended up their worst enemies. This rhetorical device caused me to understand the significance of each situation or events that happened back them. This also allowed me to be grateful that we do have plenty of opinions that can be heard by everyone than being thrown in the jail like King Jr.

King Jr. continues to play on subtle humor in his speech by using analogies to several things we would not expect he'd make. He's trying to lighten the mood as his letter seems to be somber so he can persuade those who are reading his letter to understand the wrongful position he is in. The analogies help raise the humorous stake a little bit so he can prove that his message is relevant to gaining his civil rights back. He's not only speaking up for himself but he's speaking up for those who have had their civil rights taken as well.

Like Jared said, he intentionally make some humor in analogies where it would allow us to understand the same issues that everyone in the past shared and had their own ways of solving those challenges. This allowed us to laugh and understand his purpose of delivery better than being too connected to somber emotions and tone of the speaker.

King, Jr. uses analogies that blend in with the rhetorical device of cause and effect. He uses this to help show the cause and effect of other issues out in the world at the time of the speech being written. These analogies also help King, Jr. prove his point that the civil rights should not be taken away and that civil rights provide justice and equality in the world for the African Americans.

Every single movement that King Jr. mentions in his letter is to show the changes and the effect that each movement has on the world and the citizens at the time of each movement. He tries to prove his purpose that the civil rights movement was meant to provide equality and justice for King Jr. and other people like him.

To be fair, all of his historical movements are striking; but in my preference, the most striking movement analogy was when Martin Luther King Jr. talked about "... everything that Adolf Hitler did in Germany... and everything the Hungarian freedom fighters did in Hungary..." (MLK Jr., paragraph 22). He knew it was hard to get the white people to understand how the black people feel so he decided to use as much historical movements as possible. And this analogy on Hitler and the Hungarian fighters is powerful because it shows that even though the white people hate 🤬, they do things similar to 🤬 to black people.

I loved the part about Socrates and tension. In order to grow or change there must be tension. Socrates believed that tension of the mind helps a person grow while Dr. King found that nonviolence tension is more productive and discussions are more calmly assessed than violence tension. Since nonviolence tension are more effective at making things change, Dr. King decided to follow that strategy because it will bring change faster and the change will be more effective.

Dr. King felt that the newer one should be pressured just as the same so then change can happen within that administration. instead of being pushed away. Since the predecessor decided to ignore segregation and Dr. King, it's prodigy must deal with it and make a decision to change.

It is a politician job to read all the speeches or mail they get but if it is hateful then they will not finish it but since Dr. King included humor the higher ups were able to read the whole thing without looking away or be occupied with other matters. The use of humor keeps attention while somber pieces don't keep or acquire much attention.
