         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Japanese Hierarchy goes as: emperor had the top rank but was just a figurehead. The actual ruler was the shogun, who was the supreme military commander. Below him were the daimyo. Samurai warriors came next. The peasants and artisans followed them. Merchants were at the bottom, but they gradually became more important as the Japanese economy expanded.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Portuguese merchants brought tin, lead, gold, silk, and wool and cotton textiles, and other goods to Japan which proved valuable. The thing that made the biggest impact was probably muskets though because it went against their traditional fighting with sword but most samurais died from musket fire.</div>]]></description>
