After reading the chapter, it made me realize that there is one popular theme that can reoccur while working in a team. This theme is group think. This is when members tend to slack off and rely on others because they do not know how to accomplish the task (or they are just simply lazy). I personally can relate to this while working on projects when others do not want to do their part or make excuses. Another way group think can effect a team is when people are afraid to voice their opinions.

The SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Division of Labor can be very effective when used appropriately. For example, when someone specializes in a certain task or concept, he or she is more likely to become more skilled at that given task. Although there may be some advantages to Division of Labor, there are also some disadvantages. A common disadvantage that tends to reoccur is that people will get bored of performing the same task over and over again. This can eventually lead to a decrease in production rates.

Structure can relate to almost every theme in managemnet. The structure of a business revolves around authority, labor, delegation, and other common themes seen. These components are detailed rules, organizational hierarchy, and interpersonal relationships. Human variable is strongly emphasized throughout this process. Without the appropriate emphasis, an organization will most likely fail.
http://www.yourarticlelibrary.com/management/max-webers/max-webers-ideal-bureaucratic-model-characteristics-and-evaluation/69693

There are different types of authority that exists within a company. Overall, authority gives the right to give orders. This authority should not be over used or taken advantage of, or else your subordinates will grow to dislike you and results in a lack of trust. Typically, in a business, authority will grow as someone continues to get promoted and works their way up to higher positions.

Certo mentions a few different types of teams in the textbook. These teams consist of Problem-Solving, Self- Managed and Cross-Functional. Problem Solving teams focus on one specific goal, Self-Managed teams works on a specific situation with little influence from others and Cross-Functional teams work on multiple goals from different backgrounds. One team that I think of is my lacrosse team because we must a cohesive unit, while everyone still understands their role and objective.

Coaching can consist of a few different kinds of behavior, according to Certo. These behaviors consist of listening closely, giving emotional support and leads by example, in terms of behavior. I have had multiple different coaches throughout my athletic career and I think the best coaches understand what their players are feeling and react appropriately. In my opinion, one of the greatest coaches all time in sports is Duke men's basketball coach, Mike Krzyzewski.

Module 7 focuses a lot on leadership and motivation. For these two things to be effective, a sense of loyalty must be established. Someone who is loyal is a faithful person. When I think of loyalty, I think of Patrick Tillman, army ranger who was KIA in Afghanistan back in 2004. He left the NFL to serve his country after the attacks on the world trade center, making him a loyal person.

Equality--Motivates(Module 7)

Equality effects how well people will perform. If someone feels like they are being treated unfairly, they will not perform to their highest potential. However, if a good leader is able to treat their subordinates fairly and with equality, this will result in a higher motivation and better results. I do think it is important to realize the difference between equity and equality. Sometimes equity is more important than equality (depending on what someone may or may not already have).

Jobs become more difficult when there is more than one skill that needs to be developed. Something that reminds me of skill development is playing sports because you need to have a specific skill for that sport, as well as being in a good physical shape.
