Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus correlates with the positive side of the American Dream. It supports and symbolizes the freedom and dreams that arrive when moving to this country. The American Dream is about pursuing your dream of being able to accomplish what you want when given the freedom to do so. This sing really symbolizes that as it shows over and over throughout the song how when you come here the nerves go away and you are now free to pursue whatever you want. That is pretty much the entire purpose of this song to show that when you come here there a new opportunites waiting for you and you have the freedom to create new opportunities.

Scenes from an Italian Restaurant by Billy Joel is about two people that were in a relationship together got married then divorced and met back up at this Italian restaurant. This song is against the idea of The American Dream as it refutes it. It talks about how although opportunities exist there are consequences to it and it was shown here in this story. The couple in this song met in high school which is where their relationship first started. Everyone was telling them they needed to break up as there relationship wouldn't work but the two of them didn't listen as they knew they had the freedom to keep going and being with each other. There relationship didn't work out in the long run as those people were right but the two of them didn't listen and decided to stay together because they had the freedom to. That is how this song refutes The American Dream as it shows us the consequences that come with it.
