Today I got feedback from people I have worked with in the past in production groups being told my strengths and weaknesses as is listed below, after this the assignment brief was released to us and we found out the theme of our brief which is 2016. I then started on a mind map for it coming up with numerous different ideas, to be specific, music videos, documentaries and short films. I also listed all of the parameters and requirements for the brief as well. I found it pretty easy coming up with all of these ideas as a lot of them could easily be made into a documentary or short film since I lived through these events in one way or another.

Today we officially started on Task 1 and started with creating a mind map of what the brief entails as well as the different types of research that will be needed and finally all the different things that happened in 2016 to draw inspiration from. At the end of the day it was said that we should have our mood board created by Wednesday ready to start our proposal. I stayed later than I normally would when creating the mind map as I was fairly adamant to try and get it up to a distinction level.

Today we stared on industry professionals profiles where I personally looked at an editor of thriller films such as 28 Days Later, Chris Gill and I wrote about his life and how he got into the editing business and the responsibilities that you have if you become an editor. I came across the issue of there being little amounts of information about this person so I have to actively "play detective" and go out of my way to find his work and analyse it myself.

Today I continued on working on my research I went through and filled out industry professional templates as well as the job profile templates, I encountered an issue to where I still didn't know how to correctly and consistently use the Harvard referencing format to create my bibliography after I had a conversation with Leila about it she helped me understand it and how to actually do it which solved my problem.

Today we did a photography workshop, starting off with the basics of photography learning about the different elements involved within photography, which was really interesting as I didn't know it was this extensive, we were then given a camera in groups after lunch and went to take pictures using different examples of the formal elements, after this we had a quick photoshop master class and put that knowledge to the test editing our own images we took earlier.

Today I completed some secondary research by looking through books to get information relevant to my FMP Project, I have learned how to correctly Harvard reference from a book in my work as opposed to a website and I have learned how much information can be in a book. I encountered an issue where I had a hard time finding any books to relate to my FMP, I did finally find a book that relates well by looking for books online where there is a wider selection. From the diary log workshop I have learnt actually how much work goes into creating a distinction level diary log and how informative you have to be. I feel I have become slightly more analytical in my writing which I can use in my other work to get higher grades.

Today as a production group we had a team meeting in the morning and then completed 7 different pieces of pre-production work, including the risk assessment and the script to name a few, I personally wrote the script and started on the writing up the story board today. Completing the team meetings in the morning allows me to be able to realise what I have to get completed that day and puts into perspective what I have to get finished by friday. I faced the issue of not having a full plan set and having to organise an idea from nearly scratch to create the script, but after speaking to the director in our group we managed to get an idea down and I was then able to write up the first draft of the script. Today I improved my script writing skills by having practise and listening to a podcast dedicated to it entitled "script notes" I managed to complete my target on showbie by working with director to get the general idea sorted and planned out for the short film. Today I've learnt what it takes to make a good team minutes meeting in more detail than yesterday as I took a more initiative in getting involved in it today instead of just contributing to the conversation.

Today was another production day, we started off with a team meeting deciding what we were going to do today and delegating tasks such as me recording audio and colour correcting the footage we had while Tommy recorded more scenes and Daniel directed them. One issue we encountered was the fact that what we planned to record couldn't be recorded because the motion room was already in use throughout the day. So we swapped days round from wednesday next week and recorded what we wanted to that day instead so that today wasn't a waste of a day. This solved our problem. Today I learned the importance of planning ahead and booking rooms before hand so that things go smoothly, I will take this into account next year in all my assignments so that I can always stick to my plan.
