The British colonies were given a sort of freedom because England loosely governed them. They created their own legislatives to govern themselves. The colonist developed American attributes that made them different from the British. In a way, this separated the British and the colonist into different people. This meant when something they didn’t agree upon was bound to happen as they were different people.

The stamp act required people to pay taxes for every stamp that was put on paper goods. The stamp act congress was the result of John Adams calling up a congress from each of the 13 colonies to help demolish the stamp act. The stamp act played a large role in the revolution because it raised awareness to the fact that the colonists had no one to represent them in congress. This caused a major upset amongst the people, which led them to feeling angry and bitter towards the British, which would eventually cause them to revolt.

The declaratory act was an act which stated that the British government could tax the colonists as much as they saw fit. Since the colonists were not allowed to have a representation, they had to stick with this act. Since the colonists were so used to living their own lives the way that they had been doing for the past 160+ years, the British government deciding to tax them caused an uproar. The colonists believed that the British taxing them was unfair, which led to them feeling rebellious, eventually causing the revolution.

An American political and mercantile protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston. This happened on December 17, 1773. American colonists were mad and angry at Britain for the taxes that were being charged. So in reaction they dumped 342 chests of tea imported by Britain. The reason why the British were forcing taxes on colonists is because Britain was in big debt. Their debt started from all the money they had to use in the war.

The Tea Act was an act of Parliament of Great Britain. The main objective was to reduce the massive amount of tea held by the financially troubled British East India Company in its London warehouses and to help the struggling company survive.

The Coercieve Acts are a group of four separate acts, they were all a response to the Boston Tea Party, in Boston. Some of the acts helped close the Boston Harbor, allowed the British to Kep their men, and destroyed the self government in the colonies. The other Act, the Quebec, allowed England’s Proclamation Line would be dictated by Quebec.

The Acts were significant because it caused the revolution. Each member of the First Continental Congress represented one of the 13 colonies, the same way governors represent each state. The First Continental Congress was very important to the American Revolution because it represented the first form of combined leadership the colonies had. George Washington was a member of the First Continental Congress, and eventually went on to become the first president of the USA. The First Continental Congress helped the many colonists come together and become one force against the motherland. They even worked together to make sure the colonies were ready for the war to break away from Britain.

The simple republican ideas that are included in the pamphlet nudged the colonists further towards independence. The pamphlet stated that the colonists were more than able to maintain independence from Britain and that independence was inevitable. The Declaration of Independence was obviously an important part of the American Revolution. The document’s main purpose was to tell the British that the colonists were officially trying to seperate themselves from the motherland.

Lexington and Concord are the events that mark the true beginning of the war for American independence. This was the one of the first times guns were used, and it also marked the first time an American had killed British soldiers. Up until the battles of Lexington and Concord, the conflict between the colonists and the British had mainly been about money. This event was a very important part of the Road to Revolution, as it was the first time violence was used against the motherland, turning this conflict into an actual upcoming war. The conflicts up until now have been mainly political and economic, so this scene was the main fuel for the British to try and take true control over the colonies, leading to the American Revolution.
