2017: Across america African Americans and Hispanics continue to lag behind whites in economic issues. 2017: There are security cameras in malls, on sidewalks, neighborhoods, etc. We are also being censored through the internet. Edward Snowden leaked and exposed the US National Security Agency (NSA) for collecting telephone records of tens of millions of Americans. Countries are  listening in on their own citizens, remotely hacking into their computers and turning on Web cameras. They are even logging in and intercepting Skype calls.

The Party brainwashes the people to believing fake news and statistics that are blatantly obvious and untrue. Unfortunately, the people are so brainwashed that they begin to believe whatever lies the government tells them.
2017: An example of dehumanization that occurs in today's society is death row for those who committed murder instead of a lifelong sentence in jail. This is dehumanizing because it is hypocritical. Another example is that "beauty pageants are constantly tearing down the self-esteem of young women who strive to become the best of the best until they have become a totally different person."

By manipulating the people to refrain from sharing ideas, the government allows itself to brainwash the citizens, making them isolated from interacting with others and isolated from their own thoughts because of their lack in creating their own thoughts. 
2017:Even today, there is forms of isolation through technology. Everyone uses media because they think it gets them connected to others and others will pay more attention to them. But reality is that they want to hide the fact of isolation in their lives.
