What factors influence and enhance wellness?

Factors that influence wellness fall under the categories of BISEPS: Behavioral, intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual. Doing well in each of the individual components is the way to promote or enhance wellness. In addition to being well-off in the segments of BISEPS, factors such as environmental health and genetics are able to influence wellness. For example, someone who lives in a region that has high levels of pollution, they are more likely to be unwell. Other than overall environment, this also pertains to a smaller scale environment, which can include quality of home life, etc. Genetics, obviously, are able to affect your health if your biological parents had a genetic disease or disorder which was passed on to you. This may fall under the physical component of BISEPS, however in this case genetics are unable to be controlled (until recently when this has begun to be experimented with, which may help lessen genetic disorders or health hazards in the future). Overall, factors that influence and enhance wellness are doing well in all components of BISEPS, environment, and genetics.

What is the impact of nutrition and physical activity on health?

Without proper nutrition, all aspect of health are influenced (BISEPS). To maintain good nutrition, it is important to consume adequate amounts of each necessary nutrient, while ensuring that one does not eat an excessive amount of any of said nutrients. The most essential nutrients include carbohydrates (short term energy, found in whole grains, sugar, etc.), unsaturated fat ( found in nuts and oils), protein (builds organs), water, and small amounts of vitamins/minerals. Without these nutrients, the body is unable to properly function and will shut down, as in cases concerning anorexia or bulimia.
