With time more amendments are being added to Ohio's constitution for carious reasons. These amendments can be in virtually any category or topic and fix or prevent an issue from happening. Another way it can change is if a whole new constitution is proposed, like it was in 1851. Some changes it included was weakening the power of the General Assembly, banning poll taxes and requiring tax money to only be used for the purpose of which it was collected for.

Since constitutions can be proposed or modified with amendments this allows for flexibility for the future that no one can predict. It's important to have this flexibility in a government to accommodate changes.

An initiative that was introduced as issue 3 and 2 in the November 3rd election in 2015 was legalizing marijuana use and production. This would allow qualified citizens (over 21 and meeting certain requirements) to use marijuana legally for recreational use and to help with medical conditions.
