But Worried About Implications for Cost of Living. https://padlet.com/connectthedotsinsights/viaductgreenwayeng/wish/2998378029 I love what the proposal seeks to achieve. I can’t wait to see the new Viaduct Greenway come back to life as a walkable, vibrant, and biodiverse place to roam or get from A to B. But I worry this project could dramatically increase desirability and negatively impact existing residents, particularly renters, as the housing market changes and rents increase. I feel this is possible most intensely for West Poplar, which is now experiencing heavier development pressures as Northern Liberties and Callowhill have reached full-build out. The vacant lots remaining in West Poplar will only look more desirable after the Viaduct is completed, and the project team should seek partnership with land trusts, the city planning department, and city council to find a way to protect renters and keep us in place. What about an affordable housing overlay requiring new builds to provide 20% of units as affordable? What about a community benefits agreement? I know this project could mean wonderful things for the city as a whole, but let’s not disregard the economic impact to those renting and won’t see benefit from increased property values.

It's isolating and feels like a trap to pedestrians. Trash is often dumped and left for weeks.


    Looks like the Viaduct Greenway would end along this segment. Look forward to seeing how an entrance to the Viaduct Greenway will interface with the street.
