The resources for this unit helped me choose a focus for my learning center. Teachings in Education (2018) stated that learning centers should be skill-focused and allow for differentiation and cooperative learning. McFarland and McDaniels (2008) gave 10 useful tips on planning and creating centers. Some of these tips include first training students how to use them (like a practice run), writing clear and student-friendly instructions, and keeping materials organized not just for the center but also for student work. Finally, Winebrenner (2018) recommends that learning centers give students choices in their tasks including the activities and materials they use.
