1. (a) Changing pace of classroom activity- get whole class to stand and do some stretching and activities.
KPOP dance (for girls school)
Play music while students are coming in (depends on whether school allows).

(b) Discipline with dignity (Curwin and Mendler). Important to care for your students. Give them a 2 minute break when they are tired.

(c) Waking students up by whispering in their ear. The suddenness of the whisper will ensure they stay awake. Their classmates will laugh at the student, which injects humour in the classroom. Or gently knock on their table to wake them up.

(d) Remove distracting objects - confiscate the thing Jeremy/ Lai Peng was doing/ looking at under her desk.

1. Proximity control - walk closer to Jeremy. If he does not stop, then take his book away smoothly. this can also be done for Lai Peng (remove distracting objects).

2. Ripple effect - praise those who are listening (if there are any) and also hint at those who are not e.g. "okay good i see you all are highlighting the textbook but some of you are on the wrong page."

3. Positive discipline - teachers need to keep students engaged and on task, such as through changing pace of activity or nature of activity such as doing a more hands-on activity or group work. She can also provide incentives such as, "if you answer this question, you can end class early."

4. Touch control: to wake students up by getting their table partners to wake them up or kick their chair *lightly* (careful of teacher-student contact)
