Fauzi (SX15159126GHLF04)

Situations:

The issue of illegal immigrant in Malaysia is not new. In fact, it has been rooted ever since before independence and becomes a major concern for the government to provide them with the basic needs like shelter and other requirements as prescribed by the international law for human rights. This certainly will incur additional huge cost in government spending from the taxpayers, towards fulfilling the needs of these illegal immigrants. These include the expenditure incurred in retaining them at the detaining centers across the country before being deported to their home country. Malaysia has been a favorite destination for foreign workers to make a living in this country for several reasons such as geographical factor, shortage of total workforce, government policy etc. Some of the foreign workers hired are legal while others are not. As such, various operations and programs have been taken seriously by the government to reduce the number of illegal immigrant in this country. For example, the government has launched an amnesty program which is known as the ‘6P’ program in 2011. The ‘P’ stands for Malay words for Pendaftaran (registration), Pemutihan (legalization), Pengampunan (amnesty), Pemantauan (supervision), Penguatkuasaan (enforcement) and Pengusiran (deportation). However, this program has disadvantages to reduce the number of illegal immigrants due to the loopholes on the implementation of the program. Besides that, the government also has an agreement with neighboring countries like Thailand and the Philippines to strengthen and enhance the security measures at the border to combat the human-trafficking activity as well as the movement of the illegal immigrants from and to both countries.
SEE ALSO THIS. For centuries, it has been seen as either possession by evil spirits, a moral weakness or punishment from a higher being. With an estimated one in three of all internet users in the world today being below the age of 18, the growing concern about misuse and abuse of the internet, it begs the question of how do we ensure the future growth of the internet as a facilitator of global playground of the next generation?

TASK:
IN A GROUP:
1. SHOULD children <del>should </del>be allowed to own gadget and to be online?
IF YES - discuss some of the benefits that parents should consider when making this decision. JUSTIFICATION BASED ON THESE PERSPECTIVES:
1. EDUCATIONAL (SEE PART 2 & 4)
2. MOVE TO THE PART ON SITUATION ABOVE - An Annenberg survey report found that children (between 2 and 17 years) in homes spend approximately 1 h and 37 min a day on computers, including video games A study by HomeNet, where they have employed machine records of weekly usage (averaged across approximately 2 years of data between 1995 and 1998) averaged about 3 h/week during weeks when they used it, and over 10% used it more than 16 h/week (or more than 2 h/ day).

<del>Part 2.</del> (SIMILAR TO PART 4 BELOW = EDUCATIONAL)
Use and Role of Gadgets among Kids and Teens
Larson (2010) stated that digital reading devices such as iPads helps to encourage students to read since these devices have various options include storybooks with multiple multimedia applications such as visual texts or pictures with audio or video illustrations and help to enhance the books and encourage students to perform reading in an attractive method.
Parents and educators can this use this way to increase students’ compliance in doing the homework and at the same time encourage them to create their own stories.

Providing opportunities for children to create their own storybooks is a first step to increasing their compliance with the reading homework. In addition, by digital reading devices, we establish effective connection between children and reading texts.

<del>Part 3 </del>
GOOD - Development of Cognitive Skills
Development of cognitive skills can be obtain by playing computer games.
